Overview
Töpferliebe is a small, independent pottery workshop from Stuttgart. Here, Italian handicraft tradition is combined with a modern start-up mentality. With a focus on brand identity, a shop update, and a customer engagement strategy through newsletters, I crafted an engaging and effective online presence for the workshop.
Challenge
After interviewing the owner behind Töpferliebe, it became apparent that by showing a large variety of products and having to constantly create and restock them, the workshop faced the challenge of managing high demand with limited production capacity.
Additionally the workshop lacked a recognizable brand that separated them from other pottery workshops in the area.

Approach
After establishing a cohesive brand identity, I used Wordpress to design a user-friendly online shop with a focus on highlighting current products. The workshop was restructured to sell products in regular, rotating drops accompanied by a newsletter to stay on top of production and keep loyal customers in the loop about upcoming shop updates.
Brand Identity
I developed a unified brand identity that includes a logo, color palette, typography and photo concept. This brand identity captures the essence of the workshop’s handcrafted pottery, creating a strong visual impact across all customer touchpoints. The brand design featured a minimalist aesthetic to highlight the beauty of the pottery. The goal was to keep a handmade and playful yet elegant and high quality feel to the brand.

Online SHop
The shop was updated from a regular e-commerce site which lists every available product to a monthly drop routine. This enabled the owner of Töpferliebe to have full control over available inventory instead of having to update the stock on a regular basis and being overhwelmed with additional requests.
Shop Update Newsletter
In order to update potential customers of a new product drop, I created a newsletter concept using Mialchimp with a design that matches the brand aesthetic. Töpferliebe sends out monthly newsletters, which lists the upcoming products a week ahead to keep customers informed about new product drop.

Results and Reflection
The project successfully managed high demand. Töpferliebe sells out every inventory drop within a few days, while enhancing the workshop's online presence and customer loyalty.
During the course of this project I realized that while WordPress is a solid platform for building simple websites and online shops, it can become complicated when you want to create more unique experiences with lots of customization and plugins. This experience has taught me to consider other platforms that might be easier to scale and manage for future projects, to keep the development process smooth and efficient and enable an easier handover.
Currently it is planned to move the online shop over to Webflow and give Töpferliebe even more insights over customer needs by implementing a wishlist, in order to adapt efforts according to current trends.
